Dry white rice

🌱 Vegetarian 🌿 Vegan

Description

Dry white rice has a delicate, neutral flavor and a slightly glossy appearance of the grains; when cooked, it becomes soft and fluffy, making it an excellent base for many dishes. Nutritionally, it is mainly a source of easily digestible carbohydrates (about 75–80 g/100 g of dry product), with a moderate protein content (7–8 g/100 g), very low fat, and a small amount of fiber; it provides about 360 kcal/100 g. It is gluten-free and easy to digest, providing quick energy fuel, although processing causes it to lose some vitamins and minerals, so it is worth also opting for enriched versions or diversifying the diet. In the kitchen, white rice pairs well with Asian dishes, risotto, salads, fillings, and as a side to meats and vegetables, also working well in desserts. Store in a dry, cool place, in an airtight container protecting against moisture and pests; opened rice usually retains its quality for 1–2 years, and with very airtight and cool storage, even longer.
