Large wheat tortillas

🌱 Vegetarian 🌿 Vegan

Description

Large wheat tortillas have a mild, slightly sweet and nutty flavor, as well as a smooth, flexible texture; when heated, they become golden and slightly crispy at the edges while maintaining the elasticity necessary for wrapping. They come in the form of thin, large flatbreads typically measuring 25–30 cm, making them very versatile in the kitchen. Nutritionally, they primarily provide carbohydrates as a source of energy, contain a moderate amount of protein, and very little fat; whole grain versions additionally offer fiber, B vitamins, and minerals such as iron and magnesium. They are perfect for wraps, burritos, quesadillas, tacos, and as a base for mini-pizzas or casseroles, combining meat, vegetable, and sauce flavors. They can be stored tightly at room temperature for a few days, in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks, and longer if frozen; before use, heat them in a skillet, oven, or microwave to regain their flexibility.
