Coleslaw salad

Description

Coleslaw is a crunchy mix of finely shredded cabbage (usually white or red) with carrots, often combined with a creamy dressing based on mayonnaise or a light vinaigrette; it has a fresh, slightly sweet-and-sour taste with a pleasant texture and an attractive, contrasting appearance – light green and orange strands create an appetizing composition. It pairs perfectly as a side dish to grilled meats, sausages, burgers, and spicy dishes like tacos, as well as an element in salad compositions and sandwiches, adding a cool, refreshing touch. Nutritionally, coleslaw provides fiber, vitamins C and K, and antioxidants from cabbage and carrots; versions with yogurt or olive oil offer beneficial fats and fewer calories than classic mayonnaise. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator; the salad with mayonnaise will usually stay fresh for 3–4 days, while with vinaigrette it can last up to a week, and it's best to keep it separate from toppings to maintain its crunchiness.
