Pomegranate arils (pomegranate seeds)

🌱 Vegetarian 🌿 Vegan

Description

Pomegranate arils are small, shiny, ruby-red beads with a juicy, sweet-tart, and slightly astringent essence surrounding a small, crunchy seed; they resemble natural gems that add color and freshness to dishes. They are rich in vitamin C, K, folate, potassium, fiber, and strong antioxidants (such as punicalagins), which support immunity, heart health, reduce inflammation, and promote good digestion, while also providing a low-calorie source of micronutrients. In the kitchen, arils pair wonderfully with salads, yogurt, cereals, feta or goat cheese, couscous dishes, meat (especially lamb and poultry), sauces, dressings, and drinks, adding a contrast of flavor and texture. Store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5–7 days, and for longer storage, freeze them spread out on a baking sheet after drying; the whole fruit can be kept in a cool place for about 1–2 weeks.
