Fresh baguette
Description
A fresh baguette is a long, thin roll with a crispy, golden crust and a soft, porous interior. The taste is slightly sweet and mildly buttery due to the careful fermentation and baking; the aroma of toasted bread is inviting and encourages immediate consumption. Nutritionally, a baguette mainly provides carbohydrates that release energy quickly, a moderate amount of protein, and little fat; whole grain bread increases the fiber, B vitamins, and mineral content, while white baguette has a lower content of minerals and fiber. The baguette pairs well with cheeses, cold cuts, spreads, and soups, making it a great base for sandwiches, bruschetta, or toasts. To maintain its crispness, store it briefly in a paper bag at room temperature, refreshing it in the oven; for longer storage, freeze it sliced and thaw in the oven, avoiding plastic packaging that causes the crust to soften.
