Dark beer (e.g. Kozel Černý, Bernard Černý Lager)
Description
Dark beer (e.g. Kozel Černý, Bernard Černý lager) is characterized by a deep brown-black color, creamy foam, and an aroma of roasted malt with hints of coffee, chocolate, and caramel; in taste, it usually combines the sweetness of malt with a mild bitterness of hops. From a nutritional standpoint, it provides calories from alcohol and carbohydrates (approximately 150–250 kcal per 330 ml), as well as small amounts of B vitamins, minerals (potassium, magnesium), and polyphenols with antioxidant properties; when consumed in moderation, it can be part of a balanced diet, but it is not recommended for those avoiding alcohol, pregnant women, and individuals with certain health conditions. In the kitchen, dark beer is excellent for braising and marinating meats, as a base for thick sauces and one-pot dishes, for making chocolate cakes, desserts, and beer cake, as well as for frying in batter; its malty-roasted notes enhance the flavor of dishes. Store in a cool, dark place, preferably upright, avoiding temperature fluctuations; after opening, chill and consume within 24–48 hours to preserve the aroma.
