Curry
Description
Curry is a general name for a spice blend originating from South Asian cuisine, usually with a gold-yellow to brown color and an intense, complex aroma. The flavor can be warm, earthy, and slightly spicy, with a dominant note of turmeric balanced by cumin, coriander, mustard, and a hint of ginger or pepper, providing both depth and freshness. Nutritionally, curry is low in calories, rich in antioxidants and minerals such as iron and manganese; the curcumin found in turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties and aids digestion, and the blend may support immunity and metabolism. In cooking, curry pairs well with stews, sauces, soups, marinades, vegetable dishes, meat, and legumes, as well as with rice and creamy sauces based on coconut milk. Store it in an airtight, opaque container in a cool, dry place; it is best used within 6–12 months for full aroma.
