Description
Fresh cod fillet is a white, delicate piece of fish with firm flesh and a subtle, slightly sweet flavor, along with a matte, almost pearlescent sheen. It is a lean fish with a high content of complete protein, moderate amounts of omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin B12, niacin, and minerals such as phosphorus and selenium, which support muscle recovery, neurological functions, and cardiovascular health while being low in calories. In the kitchen, cod is suitable for baking, pan-frying, stewing, steaming, in fish soups, and also ground into patties or spreads; it pairs well with lemon, butter, fresh herbs, and delicate sauces, as well as vegetables and potatoes. Store fresh fillets in a cool place at 0–2°C in an airtight container for up to 1–2 days or freeze at -18°C for up to 3 months, thawing slowly in the refrigerator before use.
