Penne pasta

🌱 Vegetarian 🌿 Vegan

Description

Penne pasta, also known as tubes, has a cylindrical shape with diagonally cut ends and often a ridged surface that perfectly holds sauces. Its flavor is mild and neutral, with a pleasant, slightly nutty note when cooked al dente, making it an excellent base for a variety of toppings. Traditional semolina penne is primarily carbohydrates with high energy value, also containing protein and small amounts of fat; whole grain versions provide more fiber, B vitamins, and minerals, which improve satiety and positively affect digestion and blood sugar control. In the kitchen, penne pairs well with tomato sauces, cream sauces, pesto, vegetables, meat, and in casseroles, as well as in salads. Dry tubes should be stored in an airtight container in a cool, dry, and dark place, while cooked pasta should be kept in the refrigerator for 3–4 days or frozen for up to 2 months after being mixed with a small amount of oil.
