Cherry tomatoes
Description
Cherry tomatoes are small, round or slightly elongated, with a shiny skin in shades of red, yellow, or orange; the flesh is juicy, sweet-tart, and intensely aromatic, making them visually and tastefully appealing as a snack or an addition to dishes. They are low in calories, rich in vitamin C, carotenoids (including lycopene), potassium, and fiber, which supports immunity, heart health, and the digestive system, and has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. In the kitchen, they work well fresh in salads, bruschettas, and salsas, roasted or grilled as a side for pasta, fish, and meats, as well as stewed for sauces or preserves. To maintain their flavor and texture, store them at room temperature away from direct sunlight, preferably with the stem side down; if longer storage is necessary or after cutting, place them in an airtight container and refrigerate, and before serving, bring them back to room temperature.
