Arborio rice for risotto

🌱 Vegetarian 🌿 Vegan

Description

Arborio rice for risotto is a short-grain, pearl variety with a milky-white color and a characteristic slightly creamy texture when cooked. The flavor is delicate, slightly nutty, and the grains swell, releasing a lot of starch, which gives a velvety, sticky risotto while maintaining a firm "al dente" center. Nutritionally, arborio mainly provides carbohydrates, a moderate amount of protein, and a small amount of fat; it is naturally gluten-free and a source of energy as well as minerals like manganese and magnesium, and B vitamins. It is typically used for classic risotto, risotto alla milanese, arancini, creamy casseroles, and rice puddings; it thickens dishes perfectly. It should be stored in a dry, cool place in an airtight container, away from light; uncooked rice stays fresh for a year or longer, while cooked rice can be kept in the refrigerator for 3–4 days or frozen.
