Vanilla
Description
Vanilla is an aromatic spice with a sweet-floral, slightly woody flavor and dark brown, shiny pods filled with tiny seeds. It mainly contains the compound vanillin as well as trace amounts of minerals and antioxidants; when used in moderation, it can support well-being due to its aromatherapeutic effects and exhibit mild antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Due to its intense flavor, it is a low-calorie way to enhance dishes without adding sugar. Vanilla pairs wonderfully with desserts, creams, ice creams, cakes, fruit sauces, beverages, and preserves, as well as with meat and spicy dishes as a flavor contrast. Store the pods in a sealed, dark, and cool place, preferably wrapped in foil and placed in an airtight jar; keep the extract in a cupboard away from heat, while the vanilla powder should be stored in a dry, airtight container.
