Gelatin (powder)

Description

Powdered gelatin is a colorless or light yellow, transparent powder with a very mild, almost neutral taste that, when dissolved and cooled, forms a flexible, shiny jelly. It is hydrolyzed collagen of animal origin and mainly provides protein; it is not a significant source of vitamins or minerals, but it can support the health of joints, skin, and hair as a source of amino acids found in collagen. Due to the lack of a complete amino acid profile, it does not replace high-quality proteins in the diet. In the kitchen, gelatin works perfectly as a gelling and stabilizing agent, ideal for desserts (mousses, panna cotta, jellies), creams, fillings, aspics, glazes, and clarifying liquids. It should be stored in a dry, cool, and dark place in a tightly sealed package; the powder has a long shelf life, while prepared gelatin products should be kept in the refrigerator and consumed within a few days.
