Blueberries
Description
Blueberries are small, round fruits with a dark blue-purple skin covered in a delicate, silvery bloom and a juicy, sweet-tart flavor with floral notes. They are low in calories, rich in fiber, vitamin C, vitamin K, manganese, and strong antioxidants, primarily anthocyanins, which support heart health, cognitive functions, and have anti-inflammatory properties. In the kitchen, they work well both raw and cooked — perfect for smoothies, yogurts, oatmeal, baked goods, sauces, salads, or jams, and they pair wonderfully with citrus, vanilla, and cheeses. They should be stored in the refrigerator in a breathable container, without washing them before storing, and used within a few days; for longer storage, it's best to freeze them, spreading them out on a tray first to prevent clumping.
