Peach
Description
Peach is a juicy fruit with a sweet-tart, slightly honeyed flavor and soft flesh, usually golden-orange with a red blush and a delicate fuzz on the skin. It is low in calories, rich in vitamins C and A, fiber, potassium, and antioxidants such as carotenoids and polyphenols, which support immunity, skin health, the cardiovascular system, and digestion. In the kitchen, peaches are great raw in salads and desserts, as an addition to yogurts, cakes, jams, compotes, and ice creams, as well as grilled or stewed as an accent to meats and cheeses. Ripe fruits should be brought to softness at room temperature and then stored in the refrigerator for a maximum of a few days; for longer storage, they can be frozen cut or preserved.
