Light brown sugar

🌱 Vegetarian 🌿 Vegan

Description

Light brown sugar is a finely granulated, moist sugar with a warm, golden-brown color and a distinct molasses aroma; it tastes sweeter than white sugar with a hint of caramel and a slightly moist texture, which adds depth to baked goods and sauces. It is most commonly used in cookies, crumbles, BBQ sauces, caramelizing vegetables and fruits, as well as in coffee or oatmeal, where it enhances flavor and texture. Nutritionally, it is primarily sucrose providing about 380–400 kcal/100 g, containing trace amounts of minerals (calcium, potassium, iron) due to the molasses, but the health benefits are minimal and it should be consumed in moderation as a source of quick energy. Store in an airtight, dry container away from moisture; to prevent clumping, you can add a piece of bread or a slice of apple.
