Greek yogurt
Description
Greek yogurt is a thick, creamy, snow-white product with a distinctly tangy, mild flavor and a velvety texture resulting from whey drainage. It is rich in protein, contains calcium, potassium, and probiotics that support the gut microbiome; full-fat versions also provide healthy fats, while fat-free versions have fewer calories and carbohydrates, which promotes a feeling of fullness and helps maintain body weight. In the kitchen, Greek yogurt works well as a base for dips and sauces (e.g., tzatziki), dressings, marinades, smoothies, creamy desserts, and as a substitute for cream in baking or soups. Store it in the refrigerator at a temperature of 2–6°C in a tightly sealed container, using it within 5–7 days of opening and checking the expiration date; freezing is possible, but it changes the texture.
