Coconut oil
Description
Coconut oil has a delicate, slightly sweet coconut flavor with subtle buttery notes and a creamy texture; at room temperature, it is white and solid, and when heated, it turns into a clear, colorless liquid. Nutritionally, it is rich in saturated fats, especially medium-chain fatty acids (MCTs), including lauric acid, which means it quickly provides energy and may support feelings of fullness, although it should be used in moderation due to its calorie content. It also has antibacterial properties and stability at high temperatures. In the kitchen, it works well for frying and baking, as a substitute for butter in desserts, a base for curries and Asian dishes, as well as an addition to smoothies and spreads. Store in a cool, dark place in a sealed container; at lower temperatures, it naturally solidifies, and for longer storage, it can be kept in the refrigerator to extend freshness and prevent rancidity.
