Bread (slices)
Description
Sliced bread has a pleasant, often slightly sweet or tangy aroma and a varied texture — from a crispy crust to a soft crumb, with color depending on the flours used, ranging from light to dark brown in whole grain baked goods. It is a source of easily accessible carbohydrates and energy, and particularly whole grain bread provides fiber, B vitamins, and minerals such as iron and magnesium, supporting digestion and metabolism; however, it is advisable to choose products with low sugar content and additives. Slices are versatile — serving as a base for sandwiches, toast, croutons for salads, a foundation for spreads and snacks, as well as an ingredient for breadcrumbs. They are best stored in a cool, dry place in a paper bag or bread box for a short time, and for longer storage, portion and freeze them, avoiding the refrigerator, which speeds up staleness.
