Edible rose petals

🌱 Vegetarian 🌿 Vegan

Description

Edible rose petals are delicate, silky, and available in a range of colors from white through pink to deep red; the flavor is subtly floral, slightly sweet with a citrusy-spicy note, and the aroma is intensely perfumed, making them an attractive visual and flavor addition. Nutritionally, they are low in calories, providing trace amounts of fiber, vitamin C, minerals, and numerous antioxidants (polyphenols, flavonoids) that support the immune system, have anti-inflammatory properties, and contribute to protecting cells from oxidative stress. Culinarily, rose petals are suitable for salads, desserts, preserves like jams and jellies, syrups, vodkas and cocktails, teas, and baked goods, as well as for candying as decoration. Before use, the stamens should be removed, and the petals should be gently rinsed and dried. Fresh petals are best stored in a cool place in a single layer on a paper towel or in an airtight container in the refrigerator, while for longer storage, they should be dried or candied and kept in a dry, dark place.
