Pumpkin puree
Description
Pumpkin puree is a smooth, velvety mass with an intense orange color and a subtly sweet-nutty flavor with earthy notes, which gives dishes a pleasant depth and creamy texture. It is naturally moist and easily combines with other ingredients, making it a versatile addition in the kitchen. Nutritionally, pumpkin puree is low in calories, rich in beta-carotene (a precursor to vitamin A), vitamin C, fiber, and potassium, as well as antioxidants that support vision, immunity, skin health, and the circulatory system. In the kitchen, it works well in cream soups, sauces, cakes, and desserts (e.g., pumpkin pie), as a base for spreads, baby food, smoothies, as well as in bread and gnocchi. It can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 3–4 days or portioned and frozen for up to 3 months; thaw in the refrigerator and avoid refreezing.
