Fresh orange juice
Description
Orange juice (freshly squeezed or 100%) has an intense orange color, which can be clear or slightly pulpy, and its flavor combines fresh sweetness with balanced acidity and citrus aroma. It is a rich source of vitamin C, folates, potassium, and antioxidants (flavonoids), providing quick energy in the form of natural sugars; regular, moderate consumption supports immunity, iron absorption, and electrolyte balance, although it is worth remembering the calorie content resulting from natural sugars. In the kitchen, orange juice is great for breakfast drinks and smoothies, dressings, marinades for fish and poultry, glazes, sauces, and desserts, as well as an ingredient in alcoholic cocktails. Store freshly squeezed juice chilled and consume within 24–48 hours; pasteurized 100% juice should be kept in the refrigerator after opening and used within 3–7 days. To extend shelf life, you can portion and freeze the juice.
