Dried plum

Description

Dried plum is a dark, shiny fruit with a firm, sticky skin and a soft, sweet-and-sour interior with distinct notes of caramel and smoke, often slightly chewy after a bite. It resembles a smaller, wrinkled plum, easily recognizable by its intense aroma and deep color ranging from burgundy to almost black. It is a concentrated source of fiber, potassium, vitamin K, and antioxidants, as well as natural sorbitol, which aids digestion and regulates peristalsis, and also supports heart and bone health due to its minerals. Dried plums pair wonderfully with baked goods, desserts, compotes, braised meat dishes, salads, and cheese boards, where they balance sweetness and acidity. They should be stored in an airtight container in a cool, dry place; in warmer climates, it's better to keep them in the refrigerator, and longer storage is facilitated by freezing.
