Water (optional — for syrup 1:1)
Description
Water is a colorless, transparent liquid with a neutral, almost imperceptible taste that acts as a universal solvent in the kitchen. As an ingredient in a 1:1 syrup, it lightens and adds fluidity to the sugar mixture without changing the aroma, while affecting the consistency and solubility of the ingredients. Nutritionally, water provides no calories or macronutrients, but it is essential for proper hydration of the body, temperature regulation, nutrient transport, aiding digestion, and maintaining skin and joint elasticity. In the kitchen, it is useful in beverages, for making syrups, cooking, stewing, and diluting sauces, as well as in flavor combinations that require a neutral medium. Store water in a sealed, clean container in a cool, dark place; keep prepared 1:1 syrup in a closed bottle in the refrigerator for about a month.
