Water (cold)
Description
Cold water has a neutral, refreshing taste and a clear, colorless appearance; it is calorie-free and devoid of flavoring ingredients, making it a universal culinary element. Nutritionally, water does not provide energy or macronutrients, but it is essential for proper hydration, thermoregulation, kidney function, nutrient transport, and supporting metabolism. Drinking cold water after exercise adds a feeling of freshness and may slightly increase energy expenditure to warm the liquid. In the kitchen, cold water is used for cooling vegetables after blanching, diluting concentrates, preparing drinks and bases for soups, as well as for cooking, kneading dough, and preserving products. Store water in airtight, clean containers, preferably in the refrigerator, away from light and strong odors, regularly replacing it to maintain freshness and safety.
