Ground beef
Description
Ground beef has an intense, rich flavor and a grainy, tender texture; its color ranges from bright red fresh meat to brown after cooking, and the fat content affects its juiciness and aroma. It is a source of high-quality protein and essential micronutrients, such as heme iron, vitamin B12, and zinc, which support blood production, neurological functions, and immunity; by choosing leaner versions, one can reduce saturated fat content without losing protein. Ground beef works well in burgers, meatballs, Bolognese sauces, tacos, casseroles, and fillings, and pairs nicely with herbs, tomatoes, and spicy seasonings. Store in the refrigerator for 1–2 days or in the freezer for 3–4 months in an airtight container; thaw in the refrigerator and always cook thoroughly to an internal temperature of about 71°C.
