Salsiccia sausage
Description
Salsiccia sausage is an Italian fresh pork sausage with a distinct, aromatic flavor, often seasoned with anise or fennel, garlic, and paprika; it comes in mild (dolce) and spicy (piccante) versions, has a thicker, uneven meat texture with visible fat marbling and a natural casing that adds juiciness when cooked. With its balanced aroma, it is perfect for grilling, frying, and stewing, making it an excellent addition to pasta, ragù, pizza, soups, and stews, as well as to antipasti and fillings. Nutritionally, salsiccia provides protein, B vitamins, iron, and zinc, which support recovery and energy, but it is also a source of saturated fats and sodium, so it is advisable to consume it in moderation and in combination with vegetables. Store in a cool place for up to 3 days in an airtight package or freeze for 2–3 months, thaw in the refrigerator, and heat thoroughly, avoiding refreezing and contact with raw products.
