Cottage cheese
Description
Cottage cheese is a fresh, white cheese with a grainy, moist texture and a delicate, slightly tangy flavor. The curds are soft and elastic, providing a pleasant consistency both raw and when mixed with additions; the color and moisture can vary depending on the fat content. It is a valuable source of high-quality protein, calcium, phosphorus, and B vitamins, with relatively low fat and carbohydrate content, which supports muscle building, bone health, and weight management. It pairs perfectly with salads, sandwiches, pancakes, and baked goods, and goes well with herbs, vegetables, fruits, and honey, as well as serving as a base for dips or fillings. It should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator (about 0–4°C), ideally consumed within a few days of opening, and freezing should be avoided due to changes in texture.
