Start by preparing the ginger. Take a piece of ginger root and use a small teaspoon to scrape off the thin skin – this is much easier and more economical than using a knife. Next, cut the peeled piece of ginger into thin slices, about 2-3 millimeters thick. Also prepare the lemon juice: cut the lemon in half and squeeze the juice from one half into a small bowl or glass. To avoid seeds, you can strain the juice through a small sieve.
Description
Discover the power of nature in your lunchbox! Golden Digestive Elixir is a warming, slightly spicy, and incredibly aromatic drink that is the perfect companion for meals on the go. Its heart lies in the combination of fresh ginger, known for its digestive-supporting properties and ability to soothe nausea, and turmeric – a powerful antioxidant with anti-inflammatory effects. The addition of lemon juice provides vitamin C, while a pinch of black pepper, due to its piperine content, significantly increases the absorption of valuable curcumin. The whole mixture is sweetened with natural honey, which adds not only flavor but also antibacterial properties. This drink, with its beautiful, intensely golden color, is not only a delicious alternative to sweet juices but, above all, a functional elixir that takes care of your digestive comfort throughout the day. Perfect for sipping warm from a thermos on chilly days or as a refreshing chilled drink in the summer.

Preparation steps
Preparation of ingredients
Brewing the infusion
Pour 500 ml of water into a small pot. Add the previously prepared ginger slices. Place the pot on the stove over medium heat and bring the water to a boil. As soon as you notice the first bubbles, immediately reduce the heat to the minimum, so that the water just gently 'flickers'. Leave the infusion to simmer for 5-7 minutes. An intense, spicy aroma of ginger should fill your kitchen.
Combining ingredients
Remove the pot from the heat and place it on a safe, heat-resistant surface, such as a cutting board. Add one teaspoon of turmeric powder and a pinch of black ground pepper to the hot ginger infusion. Using a spoon, stir vigorously for about 30 seconds, until the turmeric is completely dissolved and the drink takes on a uniform, intensely golden color. Make sure there are no lumps of powder at the bottom.
Cooling and seasoning
Leave the drink to cool for about 5-10 minutes. It should reach a temperature where it is very warm but not boiling (ideally around 40°C). Only then add freshly squeezed lemon juice and a teaspoon of honey. Mix again thoroughly until the honey completely dissolves in the liquid. Taste the drink - if you prefer it sweeter, you can add a little more honey.
Straining and Storing
Prepare a bottle or thermos to transfer your elixir. Place a fine strainer over the opening of the bottle. Slowly and carefully pour the golden drink through the strainer to separate the liquid from the ginger slices and any sediment. Optionally, to enhance the aroma, you can add a sprig of fresh mint to the bottle and a pinch of cayenne pepper for extra spiciness. Seal the bottle tightly. Your elixir is ready to take with you!
Fun Fact
Turmeric, known as the 'gold of India', has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years not only as a spice but also as an anti-inflammatory and digestive aid. Combining it with black pepper is a classic Ayurvedic way to enhance its potency and bioavailability.

Tips
It tastes best warm, but it is also incredibly refreshing when chilled and served with ice cubes. You can pour it into a thermos to keep the temperature for several hours. For added freshness, you can add a slice of lemon or orange to the cup before drinking.
Store in a tightly sealed bottle in the refrigerator for 24-48 hours. Before consumption, shake well, as the turmeric sediment naturally settles at the bottom. It can be gently heated over low heat, but do not bring to a boil to avoid losing the valuable properties of the honey.
